Big Rapids Hospital Honors Rich History of Compassionate Care

BIG RAPIDS Mich., March 1, 2017 – Big Rapids Hospital has been a part of the community for more than 139 years. To memorialize the rich tradition of loving and compassionate care, community members are invited to the unveiling of a special piece of artwork located in the main lobby. The artwork was commissioned in 2016 and honors the hospital’s history and founders.

A short ceremony will take place on Wednesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. in the Big Rapids Hospital main lobby. Hospital president Mary Kay VanDriel will say a few words and light refreshments will be served. To celebrate the hospital’s roots formed from the Sisters of Mercy, a priest will offer a blessing to representatives of each hospital department,  for continued compassionate service to our patients.

Please join us for this ceremony, and be one of the first to see this honorary art piece.
