Community Invited to ‘Garden Your Way to Better Health’

BIG RAPIDS & REED CITY, Mich., May 5, 2017 – There are many benefits to gardening. Not only can it improve your health through many great vitamins and nutrients in vegetables, and herbs, but it also saves money.

As part of Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals’ ‘Helping the Whole You’ series, join gardening experts from TrueNorth Community Services as they discuss how simple it can be to incorporate recycling, composting and gardening into your daily life. In fact, small changes can lead to a 30 percent reduction in household wastes, with composting being a great way to create rich nutrients for your garden.

Find out how composting and gardening is an affordable way to enhance a healthy lifestyle at two convenient presentations:

  • Wednesday, May 17, noon to 1 p.m. at the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, located at 435 N. Michigan Ave. in Big Rapids.
  • Thursday, May 18, noon to 1 p.m. at the Reed City Fire Department, located at 523 Morse Street in Reed City.

Community members of all ages are invited to attend these free presentations. Both sessions will include the same presentation. A free meal will be provided, and space is limited.
