Spectrum Health Grants Northern Lights Award in Civics

Award honors local mobile pantry advocate.

BIG RAPIDS, Mich., May 3, 2017 – The 2017 Northern Lights Civics Award was presented to Cher Robinson for her leadership, compassion and dedication to fighting hunger in Lake County.

Cher Robinson operates the Feeding America West Michigan school mobile pantry, which provides fresh produce and other food items for hundreds of Lake County families. Over the past 18 months, this pantry has been a key service to residents of Lake County, which traditionally ranks as one of the poorest counties in the state of Michigan. The mobile food pantry helps families with the overwhelming cost of food to feed their children on a consistent basis.

Cher has been an integral part of the sustained success of the mobile pantry at Baldwin Community Schools. Because of her passion to reduce child hunger, this program has thrived.

The Northern Lights awards are given by the Spectrum Health Foundation Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals each year to recognize the contributions of outstanding individuals, groups or programs making a difference in our region.
