Spectrum Health Medical Group Welcomes Gynecologic Oncology of West Michigan

On October 1, Gynecologic Oncology of West Michigan will become part of Spectrum Health Medical Group. The office, comprised of the practices of Gordon O. Downey, MD, FACOG, FACS and Charles R. Harrison, MD, FACOG, will see patients at Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion, suite 6300.

“By joining Spectrum Health Medical Group, we will continue to build on a tradition of excellence and look forward to serving our patients with convenient, high-quality care that is connected to an award-winning health system,” said Dr. Harrison. “We will have direct communication with all Spectrum Health locations, allowing specialists, hospital care providers and our practice staff to view one common medical record, ensuring exceptional patient care and safety.”

Dr. Harrison says that patients will see additional benefits through this integration, such as an expanded network of local and regional specialists, surgeons, researchers, nationally recognized medical experts and other Spectrum Health care providers who work as a team to provide additional resources when needed.

“We are excited to have Dr. Downey and Dr. Harrison on our team,” said Julian Schink, MD, department chief, obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health, Spectrum Health Medical Group. “Together we become the most experienced and one of the largest gynecologic oncology programs in Michigan. This is a wonderful step towards preserving outstanding care and access to clinical trials for the women of Western Michigan.”

Current patients of Gynecologic Oncology of West Michigan will continue to receive care, without interruption as the office integrates with Spectrum Health Medical Group.
