Spectrum Health Offers Free Skin Cancer Screenings

Spectrum Health plans to hold skin cancer screenings free of charge at four locations throughout West Michigan.

The best way to find skin cancer in its earliest and most treatable stage is by checking your skin regularly and having a dermatologist perform a focused skin cancer screening.

Spectrum Health medical professionals will perform skin cancer screenings at no charge on Tuesday, May 5, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the following locations.

South Pavilion, 80 68th Street SE, Suite 302, Cutlerville

Grand Rapids Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, 1300 Michigan Street NE, Suite 202, Grand Rapids

Spectrum Health Medical Group, 588 East Lakewood Boulevard, Holland

Spectrum Health Medical Group, 2111 12 Mile Road NW, Sparta

Appointments are not required—walk-ins are welcome.

The skin cancer screening is a visual inspection of your uncovered skin and will be completed by a medical professional. No blood work is needed. If a follow-up appointment is recommended, our medical professionals will provide additional education and referral information.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the world. There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer with more than 70,000 men and women newly diagnosed each year.
