Spectrum Health to Provide Medical and Athletic Training Services to Grand Rapids Football Club

Spectrum Health Medical Group (SHMG) has been named the preferred provider of medical and athletic training services for the Grand Rapids Football Club, the city’s minor league soccer team.

Under the arrangement, SHMG’s Olusanjo Adeoye, MD, will be the lead team physician. In addition, athletic trainers from SHMG Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will be available for injury prevention, management and treatment and will ensure seamless communication among players, doctors and others involved in the health care process.

“This is a terrific outreach opportunity for Spectrum Health’s doctors and athletic trainers. This partnership recognizes the high quality of our health care providers and our services,” said Phillip Adler, manager of SHMG Sports Medicine.

SHMG Sports Medicine also is the preferred provider of medical services for the West Michigan Whitecaps and supplies athletic training and sports medicine services to the Grand Rapids Ballet, Davenport University and more than 20 area high schools.

“The experience and expertise offered by Spectrum Health’s doctors and athletic trainers will help us elevate our game to a whole new level,” said GRFC founder Matt Roberts. “We know the GRFC players will be in great hands.”

GRFC kicks off its second season on Friday, April 15, with a match against Grand Valley State University.
