Spectrum Health’s Betty Ford Diagnostic Breast Center Designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

First and Only Center of its Kind in Grand Rapids

Spectrum Health’s Betty Ford Diagnostic Breast Center at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). It is the first and only facility in Grand Rapids to receive this honor.

“Spectrum Health’s Betty Ford Breast Care Services is the leader in breast health and breast cancer diagnosis in West Michigan,” said Thomas Getz, MD, medical director, Betty Ford Breast Care Services. “We are proud to receive this accreditation for the Diagnostic Center and will continue our dedication to providing outstanding and comprehensive care to our patients.”

The ACR’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The breast imaging services at the Betty Ford Diagnostic Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that it has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Betty Ford Breast Care Services offers the most comprehensive array of diagnostic services in the area. The mission of Betty Ford Breast Care Services is to provide state-of-the-art diagnostics, education and testing for breast health in a confidential, comfortable setting.
