Big Rapids Hospital Hosts Community Block Party and Health Fair

Food, games, prizes and live entertainment for the whole family

BIG RAPIDS, Mich., June 5, 2017 – Community members are invited to enjoy entertainment and dinner at the annual Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital Community Block Party on June 22. The block party will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Centennial Park, just east of Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.

New to the Community Block Party this year is a Health Fair. Interactive booths will be open from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. covering several community health-related issues such as:

  • Breast cancer awareness
  • Diabetes tests and education
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Autism awareness
  • Local fitness classes
  • Farmer’s market information
  • Car seat safety education
  • MedNow telemedicine
  • First aid demonstrations and education
  • Hospital careers
  • Family medicine resources
  • Human trafficking awareness
  • Home care resources

Those who participate in the Health Fair and complete a punch card will be entered to win a free kayak!

Dinner includes a walking taco and ice cream for only $5, and children under 12 eat free.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. B103.9 will be broadcasting live with fun yard games, giveaways and a raffle to win tickets to Cedar Point.

At 6:30 p.m. Stage M will perform a selection from South Pacific, its summer musical production, and at 7 p.m. live music will be provided by the Ferris State University Community Summer Band under the direction of Dr. Richard Scott Cohen.

In the event of inclement weather, the block party will be canceled.
