Free Cancer Screenings Available for Those Who Don’t Have Health Insurance Coverage

REED CITY, Mich., March 30, 2017 – Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals will be offering free cancer screenings to those who do not have health insurance or coverage for screenings. The eligibility requirements are those 64 or under who have not had a cancer screening in at least one year.

The collation is made up of Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, District Healthy Department  No.10 and the American Cancer Society.

“Over the last year, these screenings have helped detect the early stages of cancer in many area residents,” said Irene Balowski, director of cancer services at the Spectrum Health Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center. “By detecting cancer early, we can help create a plan of care to help fight this disease.”

Screenings include:

  • Skin cancer screening
  • Colorectal screening
  • Screening mammogram
  • Pelvic exam with pap smear
  • Prostate screening

The screenings are available one day only on Friday, April 14, 2017.
