Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Welcomes New Physicians

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital today announced the appointment of pediatric sleep specialist James Chamness, MD, and pediatrician Karen Thompson, MD, to its medical staff.

Dr. Chamness provides care for sleep-related needs of infants, children and adolescents on an outpatient basis. Dr. Thompson provides care, primarily on an inpatient basis, for infants, children and adolescents with lung and respiratory needs.

Dr. Chamness earned his medical degree from Wayne State University. He completed a pediatric residency at Beaumont Hospital. After practicing general pediatrics for 17 years, Dr. Chamness spent one year as a clinical affiliate studying sleep-related issues in children at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He is a resident of Holland.

Dr. Thompson earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed a residency at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.’ Dr. Thompson is a resident of Rockford.
