Makes his entrance January 2, 2022

Paige and Evan Fitzpatrick with Ellis Lee Fitzpatrick, first baby born in 2022 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

The first baby born in 2022 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital was Ellis Lee Fitzpatrick.

Ellis entered this world on January 2, at 8:47 a.m., weighing 8 lbs, 15 oz., and measuring 22 and one-quarter inches. Ellis’s parents are Paige and Evan Fitzpatrick of Ludington, who are first-time parents.

Paige stated that Ellis is a name she and Evan both liked. “Ellis’ middle name, Lee, is Evan’s father’s middle name,” she said. Having the first baby born in Ludington in 2022 made for an easy New Year’s resolution. “Become a parent!” Paige joked. “We thought he was going to come early, so we weren’t expecting him to be the New Year’s baby.”

Asked what concerns they had about having a baby in the middle of a pandemic, Evan said their main concern was Ellis’ safety. “Keeping Ellis safe while navigating all of the challenges a new baby and a pandemic bring were our main concerns,” Evan said.

“The doctor and nurses were amazing, and made everything a thousand times better,” said Paige.

One thing they will tell Ellis about meeting him for the first time has to do with his size. “He has the biggest hands and feet ever!” said Paige.

Asked if they could predict now what Ellis’ career will be when he grows up, each parent had a prediction. “Probably the next captain of the Badger,” said Paige.

“Or a kite surfing phenomenon!” said Evan.

The obstetrics team at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital warmly welcomes young Ellis Lee Fitzpatrick into the Ludington community. His parents were given a basket of baby items, sponsored by the TWIG auxiliary.
