Reed City Hospital
13th Annual Reed City 5K Run & Walk Scheduled for August 19
Reed City, Mich., July 31, 2015 – The 13th Annual Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital 5K & Walk will be held Saturday, August 19, at 9:00 a.m. The event takes place behind the hospital, located at 300 N. Patterson Rd. The race begins and ends from the parking lot accessed from State St.
The annual event is part of the Reed City Great American Crossroads Festival, and is part of the hospital’s initiative for community health and wellness. Last year, more than 100 runners and walkers participated.
The course takes runners and walkers through the parks and streets of Reed City. All runners will have a microchip in their bib that electronically records their time as they cross the finish line.
Runners will start at 9:00 a.m., with walkers leaving immediately after the runners. Again this year there will be a “Kids Dash” for youngsters up to age 10 preceding the start of the race, at 8:30 a.m.
Registration is $25 per runner or walker, although walkers who do not want an official race shirt can participate at no cost. For those registering in August, shirts will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Trophies and medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers in the following age categories: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus years.
