BIG RAPIDS & REED CITY, Mich., November 14, 2022 – Two Corewell Health™, formerly Spectrum Health, team members have been recognized with DAISY and BEE Awards after being nominated by patients for their excellent and compassionate care during ceremonies Nov. 3 and Nov. 10 in Big Rapids and Reed City respectively.

Jennifer Minor, RN, a labor and delivery nurse at Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital, was nominated for a DAISY Award by a recent patient.

“I lost my husband a little more than month before having our second child,” the nomination read. “I don’t know if she knew that or not. There were moments I felt like I couldn’t do it without him. Jenna made sure I knew I could and helped me the whole way. She made me feel more empowered than I had previously. She gave me advice in a passionate, respectful, honest way. I can’t describe a specific situation because it was every interaction with her that made me feel 100% better than I have since his passing. She is a true angel, and the world needs more like her.”

Adam Bozeman, a security officer at Corewell Health Reed City Hospital, was nominated for a BEE Award by a recent patient’s daughter.

“What a sweetheart!” the nomination read. “He was very helpful with my mom who is on oxygen. He helped get her into a wheelchair and because we were an hour early, he got us some water while we waited. He is definitely an asset to the Spectrum Health family, as he is professional and friendly.”

Both Minor and Bozeman received flowers, pins and certificates during the ceremonies and Minor received a “healer’s touch” statue that is given to each DAISY Award recipient.

The DAISY award program was adopted from The DAISY Award, an international program established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. The Barnes family was deeply appreciative of the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created an award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.

Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals have expanded the recognition program to include the BEE Award, open to all clinical and non-clinical employees, in addition to nurses.

Nominations are open for any Corewell Health employee who regularly goes above and beyond in creating a meaningful experience for patients. The awards are given based on nominations from patients, community members and colleagues.

Nomination forms can be found at any Corewell Health facility or submitted online at: https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/brrcdaisybee.
