Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Welcomes Kidney Specialist
Julia Steinke, MD, has joined the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital medical staff. She is a pediatric nephrologist, a specialist in diseases of the kidney.
Dr. Steinke joins the division of nephrology and transplantation. She and her colleagues treat children with general nephrology needs including hypertension, urologic renal (kidney) disease, chronic or acute renal failure, dialysis-dependent renal failure and renal transplantation. Dr. Steinke has a special interest in nephropathic cystinosis, lupus nephropathy and diabetic nephropathy.
Dr. Steinke earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. She completed a residency in general pediatrics at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed both a clinical fellowship and research fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Steinke most recently served at the University of Minnesota as an assistant professor in pediatric nephrology and was involved in enrichment of the fellowship program.
