Spectrum Health Betty Ford Breast Care Services Receives Two Grants to Support Underserved Women in West Michigan
Spectrum Health is pleased to announce that Betty Ford Breast Care Services received two grants to help underserved women in West Michigan receive breast screening services.
“These grants make it possible for women who otherwise may not seek medical care to receive the appropriate screenings they need related to breast care,” said Elaine Bower, manager, Betty Ford Breast Care Services. “Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women and it’s essential all women get the care they need regardless of their economic situation.”
The two grants are:
National Breast Care Foundation — Spectrum Health received a $50,000 grant to cover mammograms and breast ultrasounds for women without insurance. This is the fourth year Betty Ford Breast Care Services has received this grant.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation — Spectrum Health received a $50,000 grant to cover women who are uninsured or underinsured for diagnostic testing for breast cancer. These tests include diagnostic mammograms, breast
ultrasounds, breast MRI or biopsies. This is the fourth year Betty Ford Breast Care Services has received this grant.
