National Art Exhibit To Visit Reed City Hospital in October
The first day of a cancer diagnosis begins one of life’s most profound journeys. Lilly Oncology on Canvas Art is a biennial competition and exhibition that provides everyone affected by cancer-those who have been diagnosed with cancer, their healthcare providers, family members, friends and caregivers-the opportunity to express the life-affirming changes that give that journey meaning and to share their cancer journey through art.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the exhibit will be on display at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Crossroads Radiation Therapy Center from October 4-8, 2010. The public is invited to opening night, Monday, October 4, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Please know that some of the artwork may contain partial or full nude depictions of the human body. This free public exhibit, which is touring communities nationwide, will showcase select pieces of art from the 2008 Oncology On Canvas competition. Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is the only West Michigan facility hosting the exhibit.
In addition to the Lilly Oncology On Canvas artwork, Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital invites local cancer survivors, family members or caregivers to submit their own original artwork to showcase in a special section during the event. The hospital’s Arts and Entertainment Committee will review each piece of work from the lens of a person experiencing the hospital, and utilize that state of mind when accepting pieces into the collection. Please drop off your piece to the front desk at the Crossroads Radiation Therapy Center no later than Wednesday, September 29 at 5:00 p.m. For more information on Lilly Oncology on Canvas visit www.LillyOncologyOnCanvas.com.
