Spectrum Health Offers Women Options for Heart Exercise

Giving women fun exercise options is the focus of a program on Tuesday, November 9.  “A Healthy Active Heart: Options to Get Moving,” begins at 7 p.m. at the Calvin College Prince Conference Center, located at 1800 East Beltline Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. Physical activity is key to helping prevent heart disease, but many women don’t know how to include it in their busy lives.

Kim DeLaFuente, MA, certified exercise physiologist, and other health professionals will help women try activities that are fun, effective and appropriate for any age and fitness level. Wear comfortable clothes. Tai chi, zumba, kickboxing and pilates are some of the activities that will be presented during the 90 minute program. The event is sponsored by the Spectrum Health Women’s Healthy Heart Program.

Preregistration is required for this free session. Call (616) 267-2626, option 4, or toll free (877) 495-2626. For information about women and heart disease, visit www.spectrum-health.org/womenandheartdisease.
