Spectrum Health Offers Free Skin Cancer Screenings
Available at Three Locations in West Michigan
As the summer season finally approaches, Spectrum Health is reminding people that sun exposure comes with some risk.
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, with more than 3.5 million people diagnosed each year. Spectrum Health will hold skin cancer screenings at no charge on Tuesday, May 7, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at three locations:
Alpine Urgent Care Center
2332 Alpine Avenue NW, Grand Rapids
South Pavilion Urgent Care Center
80 68th Street SE, Suite 302, Cutlerville
Grand Rapids Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
1300 Michigan Street NE, Suite 202, Grand Rapids
People who do not have a dermatologist and have moles that they are concerned about are encouraged to take advantage of this focused screening. No appointment is necessary.
The skin cancer screening is a visual inspection of uncovered skin and will be completed by a medical professional. No blood work is needed. If a follow-up appointment is recommended, additional education and referral information will be provided.
