Spectrum Health Named Consumer Choice Winner for 18th Year
National Research Corporation (NRC) has again recognized Spectrum Health for its overall quality and image. It is the 18th consecutive year that Spectrum Health has won the 2013 Consumer Choice Award as the most preferred hospital in the Grand Rapids market.
“Spectrum Health is honored to receive this recognition again,” said Kevin Splaine, president, Spectrum Health Grand Rapids. “The fact that this award is driven by consumers, our patients and their families, makes it all the more meaningful to our organization.”
Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in NRC’s annual Healthcare Market Guide, which surveyed more than 200,000 households representing about 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
NRC specializes in health care specific performance measurement and improvement. A list of the award winners appears in last week’s Modern Healthcare magazine.
Spectrum Health is a not-for-profit health system, based in West Michigan, offering a full continuum of care through the Spectrum Health Hospital Group, which is comprised of 11 hospitals including Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital; 173 ambulatory and service sites; 960 advanced practice providers and employed physicians including members of the Spectrum Health Medical Group and West Michigan Heart physician groups; and Priority Health, a health plan. Spectrum Health is West Michigan’s largest employer with 20,800 employees. The organization provided $250 million in community benefit during its 2013 fiscal year.
