Two Spectrum Health Leaders Recognized Nationally

Jason Joseph and Darryl Elmouchi named in Becker’s “100 to know”

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 19, 2020 – Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading health care trade magazine, recently recognized two Spectrum Health executives as national leaders in their fields.

Becker’s named  Darryl Elmouchi, MD, MBA, chief medical officer, Spectrum Health, and president, Spectrum Health Medical Group, to its list of “100 hospital and health system chief medical officers to know.” The publication also named Jason Joseph, MBA, senior vice president and chief information officer to its 2020 annual list of “100 hospital and health system CIOs to know.”

As chief medical officer, Elmouchi has responsibility over clinical quality, safety and patient experience across Spectrum Health. He also leads the Spectrum Health Office of Medical Education, providing oversight and direction of its efforts in graduate and undergraduate medical education, as well as the Spectrum Health Office of Research. He is a core member of the Spectrum Health senior leadership team.

Elmouchi also serves as president of the Spectrum Health Medical Group, a multispecialty medical practice with more than 1,700 physicians and advanced practice providers. He is responsible for all facets of the medical group’s operations and its partnership with the community, including strategic planning, business development, physician recruitment, service expansion, clinical operations, patient relations, quality, patient care and safety, marketing and financial performance.

Becker’s notes that “As proven leaders in their field, the physicians highlighted on this list have extensive experience building clinical and administrative teams. They play an integral role on the executive team moving their organization’s strategic vision forward while always keeping the patient front and center.”

Joseph oversees Spectrum Health information services and has been a member of the IS leadership team since 2006. He is responsible for strategic and operational systems, cybersecurity and emergency preparedness. He took on his current role in 2018 after serving as senior vice president of information services for Spectrum Health Delivery System.

Joseph has advanced a variety of strategic priorities during his tenure, including implementation of an integrated clinical and revenue cycle system, creation and growth of a regional health information exchange, implementation of consumer-facing digital technologies, advancement of business intelligence and analytics capabilities, and pursuit of a culture of excellence and innovation.

Becker’s notes that “the individuals and institutions featured here have received recognition from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, and in many cases their institutions have earned CHIME’s HealthCare’s Most Wired designation.”

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME’s) recognized Spectrum Health as a 2019 Most Wired health care organization at a certified level nine.
