Women’s Health Provider Joins Spectrum Health Medical Team
Nicole Van De Velde, MD, joins Spectrum Health United Hospital OB/GYN staff.
GREENVILLE, Mich., August 19, 2020 – Spectrum Health United Hospital is excited to welcome Nicole Van De Velde, MD, to its care team.
A Rochester, Michigan native, Van De Velde is happy to be back in her home state after completing her obstetrics and gynecology residency and working for a year at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
She received her bachelor’s and medical degree from Michigan State University, completing a goal she set when she was a child.
When Van De Velde was 7 years old her grandmother was ill and spent considerable time in a hospital, and that made a big impact.
“I always thought the hospital was a comforting place, because people were helping her— so I wanted to help others,” she said. “I always knew I wanted to be a doctor.”
Van De Velde enjoys working with women to provide a continuum of care as they progress through life.
“I like following a patient through their maternity care and post-partum period,” she said. “But I also like to care for women as they age, as you get to see them in all stages of life.”
She has interests in working with patients struggling with infertility and performing minimally invasive gynecology surgery including robotics.
“I’m committed to caring for the whole patient, including their emotional and mental health along with their physical health and well-being,” she said.
Van De Velde enjoys crafting, skiing, snowboarding and wakeboarding.
She and her husband, Dr. Steve Cox, live in Rockford. Cox is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor for Grand Rapids ENT. They’re expecting their first child in October.
