Afternoon Diabetes Education Classes at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital

Registering Now for July Classes

Whether you are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for some time, we can help you improve your health and your life.  Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is offering state certified diabetes education classes during the month of July with Lori King, BSN, RN, CDE and Kim Lombard, MS, RD, CDE(registered dietician). 

Each session consists of three weekly classes.  Content covered during the three-hour sessions include:

  • Acute and long-term complications
  • Exercise
  • Glucose monitoring
  • Goal setting
  • Meal planning
  • Medication management and review
  • Psychosocial adjustment
  • Stress and coping

Many people who have participated in the program have reported that they feel better and have lost weight.  Others have said their diagnosis has been a wakeup call to improve their health.  Because class participants are encouraged to make lifestyle changes, they often have lasting success in managing their diabetes.

Pre-registration is required.  Call (231) 832.6636 to register for this three-session program on July 12, 19 and 26th.  The cutoff date for registration is July 10.  All classes run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the conference rooms of the Spectrum Health Reed City Occupational Health Services building located at 219 East Church Street, Reed City. If afternoon sessions are not convenient for you, please consider our September sessions which take place on September 5, 12 and 19th from 9 a.m. to noon.  August classes will not be offered.
