Alpena Regional Medical Center Teams Up With Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital

Alpena Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has joined Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital’s Partners in Children’s Health, becoming one of 23 hospitals to affiliate with the children’s hospital in an effort to enhance the care of children and families throughout the state. The Partners in Childrens Health Network brings hospitals together to improve access to pediatric specialty services and continuing professional education.

“We are excited to be a partner with a leading provider of pediatric health care,” said Gayle Bruski, RN, MSN, ARMC Chief Nursing Officer. “This partnership allows our nursing staff to continue advancing pediatric nursing skills while providing exceptional service to the local children and their families. In addition, this partnership will provide a smooth transition for families who need the specialty services offered at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.”

As part of the affiliation agreement, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital offers assistance with quality initiatives, clinical outreach and pediatric specific continuing medical education programming for the hospitals pediatricians and other clinical staff. The affiliation also provides an opportunity for periodic community education programs and advocacy for children’s health and safety in Alpena.

“The agreement provides a framework for our hospitals to work together to strengthen pediatric care in Alpena and the surrounding community,” said Bob Connors, MD, president, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. “It connects Alpena Regional Medical Center to a regional system of care for children, dedicated to providing care close to home, and links the hospital to a comprehensive children’s hospital.”

The affiliation was formally announced on Wednesday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Alpena Regional Medical Center.
