BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan Ranked Best Hospitals in Metro Grand Rapids Area from U.S. News & World Report

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 24, 2022 –BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan Butterworth and Blodgett hospitals together have been ranked the number one hospital in the Grand Rapids Metro Area by U.S. News & World Report. In the Best Hospitals 2022-2023 rankings, the hospitals were ranked number five in Michigan and were also recognized as high performing in two adult medical specialties and in 16 adult procedures and conditions.

Spectrum Health Butterworth and Blodgett hospitals were ranked high performing in the following adult procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, lung cancer surgery, pneumonia, prostate cancer surgery, stroke and transcatheter aortic valve replacement. These hospitals were also ranked high performing in two adult specialties: gastroenterology and GI surgery and pulmonology and lung surgery.

Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital, United Hospital and Zeeland Community Hospital were each rated as high performing in one adult procedure and condition: hip fracture.

For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. State and metro area rankings reflect the highest performing hospitals in the area across multiple areas of care.
