Brick Distribution Commemorates Former Kelsey Hospital

Corewell Health and Village of Lakeview offer residents a piece of the former 115-year-old Kelsey Hospital.

LAKEVIEW, Mich., June 4, 2024 – Beginning Monday, June 10, Corewell Health™ and the Village of Lakeview are coming together to distribute bricks from the former Kelsey Hospital.

Kelsey Hospital served the Lakeview community for 115 years. Now, to help preserve its impactful history, Corewell Health will provide bricks for the Village of Lakeview to distribute to residents.

Corewell Health and the Village of Lakeview announced plans in February to transfer ownership of the land where the former Kelsey Hospital operated to the Village of Lakeview. The ownership transfer will be made through a purchase of the property for $1.

Exceptional medical care is still within reach for the community. Corewell Health opened the new Lakeview Care Center in June 2023. Lakeview Family Medicine, outpatient rehabilitation, laboratory services and the walk-in clinic relocated to the new facility, and Corewell Health added space for specialty care services.

The bricks from Kelsey Hospital are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is asked that individuals only take one brick per person. Pickup will be located outdoors for residents to gather on a self-service basis at the Lakeview Municipal Complex, 208 S. Lincoln St.
