Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals Receive Donations Totaling $73,000
Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals Auxiliary donations support patient services in Corewell Health facilities.
BIG RAPIDS and REED CITY, Mich., June 19, 2024 – Corewell Health™ Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals recently received a series of generous donations totaling $73,070.12 from the Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals Auxiliary. The donations support Corewell Health’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality care to the people of Big Rapids and Reed City.
“Having access to upgraded technology and comprehensive services is especially meaningful in rural communities such as Big Rapids and Reed City,” said Shelly Westbrook, foundation director, Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, Corewell Health. “Providing these important resources often requires substantial funding and support, which the Auxiliary’s work aids in supplying. We’re very thankful for the time they’ve dedicated to supporting our hospitals and the patients we serve.”
The donations will cover the cost of essential supplies including medical transport stretchers, a portable EKG monitor, Sarah Steady Lift, Entitle Co2 Monitor, iCare IC 200 and trauma reduction kits. The patient transportation assistance program and sexual assault nurse examiner program (SANE), which provides additional training for nurses to care for victims of sexual assault, also received a total of $15,000 in allocations.
The availability of excellent local health care is critical to the success and growth of Michigan’s rural communities. The Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospital Auxiliary raise funds by operating Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital’s gift shop and from other special events throughout the year such as flower and shoe sales.
“Knowing that the money is going to something to help our patients is one of my favorite parts of participating in the Auxiliary,” said Gloria Jager, president, Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals Auxiliary, Corewell Health. “It’s surprising how many people just come into our gift shop because they know we have unusual type things. They come to look for so many different occasions.”
