Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital Awarded ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade

BIG RAPIDS, Mich., November 16, 2022 – Corewell Health™ Big Rapids Hospital, formerly Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital, has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.

This national distinction celebrates Big Rapids Hospital’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

This is the second consecutive “A” grade for Big Rapids Hospital.

“Patient safety is always our highest priority and I’m so proud of our entire staff as they continue to deliver excellent outcomes,” said Andrea Leslie, president of Corewell Health Big Rapids, Reed City, Greenville and Kelsey hospitals. “Our clinical teams strive to provide the best evidenced-based care possible, and this recognition is an affirmation of their dedication and commitment to their patients and our community.”

Big Rapids Hospital was one of four Corewell Health West hospitals that were awarded “A” grades this fall by Leapfrog. Corewell Health Greenville Hospital, Corewell Health Ludington Hospital and Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital were also recognized for providing safer care.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.
