Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Issues Visitor Restrictions Amid Increase in Respiratory Illnesses
**As of February 6, 2024– visitor restrictions at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital have been lifted and will return to normal practices. For more information on visitor policies, please visit here.**
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 30, 2023—Due to a high number of pediatric admissions and an increase in respiratory illnesses throughout the community, Corewell Health™ Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital will be limiting the number of visitors to the hospital. Effective immediately, only two visitors are permitted at the bedside during the day and one visitor overnight. The neonatal intensive care unit visitor policy remains unchanged.
These restrictions apply only to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, which remains open and ready to care for patients. Some experiences may look different with longer wait times and beds in non-traditional settings.
To protect yourself and your children from respiratory viruses, experts at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital recommend:
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Get vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19.
In addition, new RSV preventives have been approved. Talk to your pediatrician, obstetrician or primary care physician for more information.
- Monoclonal antibody for infants and children
- Vaccine for pregnant people
- Vaccine for adults over 65
