COVID-19 Testing Moved to Drive-thru Process at Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital

Zeeland, Mich., September 10, 2020 – Patients visiting Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital for an outpatient COVID-19 swab test will now see a large drive-thru canopy conveniently located in the parking lot adjacent to the DeWitt Professional Office building, east of the main hospital.

The change allows for better social distancing and increases the capacity to conduct more tests as schools, sports and the busy fall season begins.

“We’re excited to offer a drive-thru COVID-19 testing process which allows us to increase our testing capacity,” said Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital chief nursing officer Linda Schaltz. “The new drive-thru location in the parking lot of the DeWitt Professional Office Building is in a convenient spot that allows us to meet the needs of the community by conducting more testing in the safest manner possible.”

Patients must have an order from a provider to receive a test. Appointments are encouraged. There are several easy ways to access COVID-19 testing:

  • Get screened and self-schedule a COVID-19 test through Spectrum Health MyChart. You do not have to be a Spectrum Health patient to use this service. To access MyChart, download the Spectrum Health app or visit spectrumhealth.org
  • Once in MyChart, follow the instructions found at spectrumhealth.org/covid19test to complete the symptom screening process.
  • Patients may also contact their primary care provider to discuss the need for a COVID-19 test.

If you require an interpreter or special assistance, call the COVID-19 hotline at 833.559.0659. Also use this option if you are a pre-procedure or surgery patient. If you qualify for a COVID-19 test, an appointment will be made for you.
