Doctor Dialogue Presents Prostate Cancer Facts
Spectrum Health Medical Group Hosts Free Seminar at Calvin College
Spectrum Health Medical Group’s Doctor Dialogue topic for January is “Surviving Prostate Cancer: Screening and Treatment.”
Prostate cancer is the No. 1 non-skin cancer among men and is easily treatable when detected early.
Men and women are invited to attend and learn:
- What are the signs of prostate cancer?
- When is it time to start getting screened for prostate cancer?
- What are the best screening methods?
- What are the treatment options?
The seminar will be held on Wednesday, January 18, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Prince Conference Center, Calvin College, 1800 East Beltline Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI.
The event features presentations by urologists Brian Lane, MD, PhD, and Christopher Whelan, MD, on the relevance of prostate specific antigen (PSA) screening and prostate cancer treatment options here in West Michigan. Dr. Lane received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Whelen received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University and completed his fellowship training at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California.
