Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation and iHeart Media annual Radiothon breaks all-time fundraising records

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Dec. 20, 2022 – Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation and iHeart Media are happy to announce an on-air record-breaking $551,476.28 was generously donated during the 23nd Annual Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Radiothon, presented by Wendy’s. Since Radiothon began over 23 years ago, more than $4 million dollars has been raised by the West Michigan community.

As in previous years, 100 % of the proceeds stay local and allow Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, part of Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health), to provide high-quality health care for kids in West Michigan and beyond. Funding supports over 20 different programs and services, like the hospital’s Center for Child Protection, child and family life services, NICU family support, the Peter and Joan Secchia CarePartners program and many more.

“We are grateful for generous donors, our sponsors and the continued partnership with iHeart Radio,” said Kelly Dyer, President, Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This funding supports many programs and services that rely on philanthropic funding to continue. These programs would not be available to our patients and their families without the support of our community.”

“To see the work that the staff, doctors, and nurses at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital do and to hear the patients’ amazing stories is a testament to the good work done here every day.” said Tim Feagan, iHeart Media Market President Grand Rapids. “Then to see our communities come together to support this Radiothon is amazing. I can’t thank them enough for their generosity and support of this worthy cause.”

Radiothon, held on December 8 and December 9, was broadcast on Star 105.7 and country music radio giant 93.7 B-93 – each heard throughout West Michigan. Morning show hosts for each respective station, Matt & Aly and Mac & Shmitty, each created their own distinct broadcast and content for the two-day event.

Funds are raised in a variety of ways including phone pledges and online donations, corporate sponsorships, volunteer pledges and in-kind donations.
