Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation and iHeart Media annual Radiothon breaks all-time fundraising records

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 6, 2022 – Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation and iHeart Media are happy to announce an on-air record breaking $490,377 was generously donated during the 22nd Annual Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Radiothon, presented by Wendy’s. The community continued to give online through the weekend, for a total of $503,135 raised. Since Radiothon began over 22 years ago, a total or more than $4 million dollars has been raised by the West Michigan community.

All of the proceeds stay local and allow Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital to provide high-quality health care for kids in West Michigan and beyond. Funds given support over 20 different programs and services, like the Center for Child Protection, Child and Family Life Services and many more.

“We are grateful for the sponsors, the family of donors and the continued partnership with iHeart Radio,” said Kelly Dyer, President of Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This funding supports programs and services at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and directly impacts the patients and families we serve. Your giving makes the impossible, possible.”

“This is a great time of year for the community and corporate partners to come together and support the life-changing and lifesaving work at the children’s hospital,” said Tim Feagan, iHeart Media and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation Board Vice Chair. “The moment the event concludes, we begin planning the next year. This is an event we are thrilled to be a part of and passionate about the care that we are grateful to have here in West Michigan.”

Radiothon was held December 9 and 10, 2021 and was broadcast on the family favorite radio station STAR 105.7, country music radio giant B-93.7 – each heard throughout West Michigan. Morning show hosts for each respective station, Matt & Aly and Mac & Shmitty, each create their own distinct broadcast and content for the two-day event.

Funds are raised in a variety of ways including phone pledges and online donations made by listeners, corporate sponsorships, volunteer pledges and in-kind donations.
