Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Ranked by U.S. News & World Report in Four Specialty Areas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., June 18, 2019 – U.S. News & World Report has again included Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in its 2019 Best Children’s Hospital rankings, with a total of four specialty areas being recognized this year. This is the eighth year the hospital has been included.

The 2019-20 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings are being published online today. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital ranked among the best nationally in the following categories:

  • Pediatrics: Cancer
  • Pediatrics: Cardiology & Heart Surgery
  • Pediatrics: Nephrology
  • Pediatrics: Urology

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals ranks the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S.  Based on clinical data and a survey of pediatric specialists, the ranking methodology considers clinical outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, efficiency and coordination of care delivery and compliance with best practices.

U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. They are the only comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric centers.

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is a 234-bed regional referral center and teaching hospital. It offers advanced pediatric specialty care with more than 300 pediatric physicians who practice in more than 50 pediatric specialties and programs.
