Hospital Offers Speakers for Community Groups

Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital experts are available to bring free customized presentations to civic and service groups, social clubs, churches, and other organizations in the community.

Topics offered by the Speakers Bureau include: stress management, women’s health issues, including pregnancy and menopause; concerns specific to older adults including arthritis; cancer, hip and knee pain, tips for athletes, including nutrition and injury prevention; caregiving, how health insurance works, legal issues including living wills and patient rights; and more.

Programs are provided by a variety of physicians, nurses and hospital staff who are ready to address topics that impact health and lifestyle. The Speakers Bureau is a consumer-focused community education effort, so speakers’ services are not intended for use as training for healthcare staff.

Many presentations include slide shows, overhead projections, videos or demonstration models, depending on the topic. Presenters also provide support materials including brochures, flyers and other Spectrum publications.

Speakers may be requested by calling the Spectrum Health Foundation at (231) 832-7184 or email christie.carlson@spectrum-health.org. The Foundation will coordinate between the group or organization making a request and the requested speaker to ensure an enjoyable, educational experience. Speaker requests must be made at least one month in advance of the date desired for the speaking engagement.
