Hospital President Accepts Nation’s 100 Top Hospitals and Everest Awards
Zeeland, MI – June 25, 2018 – Ron Lewis, President, Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital traveled to West Palm Beach, Florida on June 14 to accept the prestigious 100 Top Hospitals Award by IBM Watson HealthTM. Formerly known as the Truven Health Analytics® 100 Top Hospitals, this study spotlights the top-performing hospitals in the U.S. based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics and data.
In addition, Lewis proudly received the honor of achieving Everest 2018 Award distinction. This award is reserved for hospitals that earned the 100 Top Hospitals designations and also are among the 100 Top Hospitals for rate of improvement over five years. It means that the leadership team, medical staff, and employees have achieved national benchmarks for balanced performance in patient care, operational efficiency and financial stability.
“It was an honor to accept these awards on behalf of our incredibly skilled and dedicated staff, doctors, volunteers and board of directors,” said Lewis. “The Everest Award is an accomplishment that very few hospitals achieve. We earned it because of our unrelenting focus on improving quality and patient outcomes, reducing cost and surpassing performance benchmarks. We are proud to belong to a health system that is changing the world of medicine and expanding the possibilities for providing the highest quality care to our community.”
Based on the results of this year’s study, if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities:
- More than 102,000 additional lives could be saved;
- More than 43,000 additional patients could be complication-free;
- More than $4.4 billion in inpatient costs could be saved;
- Approximately 200,000 fewer discharged patients would be readmitted within 30 days.For more information, visit www.100tophospitals.com
