Mercy Hospital Grayling Teams Up with Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital

Network Includes 23 Hospitals Working Together for Pediatric Health Care

Mercy Hospital Grayling has joined Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital’s Partners in Children’s Health program in a move that will improve access to pediatric specialty services in the community.

“Pediatric specialty services are something we know are important to families in our area,” said Stephanie Riemer-Matuzak, CEO of Mercy Hospital Grayling. “We’re excited to partner with Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital to bring important resources and expertise to our community.”

As part of the affiliation agreement, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital will offer assistance with quality initiatives, clinical outreach and pediatric specific continuing medical education programming for the hospital’s pediatricians and other clinical staff. The affiliation also creates an opportunity for community education programs and advocacy for children’s health and safety in Grayling.

“The agreement provides a framework for our hospitals to work together to strengthen pediatric care in Grayling and the surrounding community,” said Bob Connors, M.D., president, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. “It connects Mercy Hospital Grayling to a regional system of care for children, dedicated to providing care close to home, and linked to a comprehensive children’s hospital.”

Partners in Children’s Health Care was launched in 2005 and now includes 23 hospitals stretching from Berrien County to Cheboygan Hospital in Cheboygan. The affiliation will be officially announced on Tuesday, April 22 at Mercy Hospital Grayling.

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is West Michigan’s largest children’s hospital, serving children and families throughout a 37-county region.
