Michigan Children to Benefit From STAR 105.7 Think Outside Yourself Radiothon

The Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation will host its 11th annual Think Outside Yourself Radiothon from December 15 through December 17 on STAR 105.7/WOOD FM. The community is invited to visit Celebration! Cinema South from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to pledge financial support. Gifts also will be accepted by calling 877.953.5437 or 616.391.2999 for the phone bank staffed by volunteers or by visiting us online at helendevoschildrens.org/radiothon.

All funds raised will benefit vital programs and services, such as child life, the Center for Child Protection, the Healthy Weight Center and neurodevelopmental pediatrics at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

Hosted by Tommy and Brook from STAR 105.7, the event will feature live interviews with families and pediatric specialists. In addition, the broadcast will include taped stories of hope and inspiration from the following patients:

  • Jack Simmons, a 3-year-old from Grand Rapids, has undergone multiple surgeries due to scoliosis and breathing difficulties.
  • Matthew Robinson, a 7-year-old from Grand Rapids, has undergone treatment for Wilms tumor, a rare kidney cancer affecting children.
  • Ben TerAvest, a 10-year-old from Hudsonville, who has undergone multiple surgeries due congenital heart defects and a cleft palette.

Sponsors are instrumental in making the radiothon possible. Day sponsors include Meijer, Wendy’s of Michigan and Racing Awareness.
