Modern Healthcare names Tina Freese Decker one of Top 25 Women Leaders in Health Care

Grand Rapids, Mich., Feb. 21, 2019 – Spectrum Health is proud to announce that President & CEO Tina Freese Decker was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 2019’s Top 25 Women Leaders. Profiles of all the winners are featured in the Feb. 18, 2019, print issue of Modern Healthcare and at ModernHealthcare.com/topwomenexecs.

The biennial recognition program honors the top women health care executives who are influencing policy and care delivery models across the country. In doing so, they also are highlighting the continued need to nurture diversity in our organizations.

“Unfortunately, the gender gap plagues healthcare just as much as it does other industries. Women CEOs comprise an estimated 30 percent (at most) of the overall C-suite. But the executives named to this year’s Top 25 Women Leaders list exemplify how diversity results in success, both clinically and financially,” said Aurora Aguilar, editor for Modern Healthcare. “Congratulations to those leaders in the 2019 class and this year’s 10 to Watch. We’re also introducing a group of Luminaries. These women are perennials to Modern Healthcare’s Women Leaders list who have made their mark in reshaping the industry. Thank you all for your contributions to healthcare.”

Freese Decker was named President & CEO of Spectrum Health in July 2018 and began the position in Sept. 2018. A veteran of more than 16 years at Spectrum Health, Freese Decker is a strong advocate for women in health care and is leading transformational change grounded in the Spectrum Health culture.

Freese Decker is highly regarded for her forward-thinking strategies, business acumen and strong execution. In just the past six months, she has achieved several noteworthy accomplishments and laid the ground work for continued success. Included in her accomplishments are finalizing the integration of Lakeland Health into Spectrum Health, establishing a Forum for Hospital Collaboration with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, launching an effort to address behavioral health needs in the community and adding a new dimension to the investment division of Spectrum Health.
