Pediatric Hospitalist and Pediatric Ophthalmologist Join Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Medical Staff

Brooke Geddie, DO, and James Van Beynen, MD, have joined Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Physicians, members of Spectrum Health Medical Group. Dr. Geddie is a pediatric ophthalmologist and Dr. Van Beynen is a pediatric hospitalist.

Dr. Geddie is board certified in ophthalmology. She earned her doctor of osteopathy from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship and ophthalmology residency at Metro Health Hospital. Dr. Geddie completed a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Geddie provides care for infants and children with vision problems and diseases of the eye as well as adults with strabismus, or misalignment of the eyes.

Dr. Van Beynen completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed a residency at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. He provides care for hospitalized patients who do not have a primary care physician or whose primary care physician prefers the hospitalist team to care for their patients while in the hospital.

The Spectrum Health Medical Group currently employs more than 500 physicians and mid-level providers, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, a member of Spectrum Health, is a Grand Rapids-based hospital serving children throughout Michigan.
