Penny Drive Benefits Relay for Life

The employees at Spectrum Health Reed City Campus, the Evart Clinic and Crossroads Radiation Therapy Center held a penny drive during the month of May to raise money for the Osceola County Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

The contest created stiff competition between hospital and clinic departments. The goal was to accumulate the largest amount of pennies with all proceeds benefiting the Osceola County Relay for Life.

Pennies were worth more than silver in the contest. Pennies counted as positive points while silver and greenbacks counted as negative points. Many penny jars located throughout the various departments of the hospital and offsite clinic locations were sabotaged with large amounts of silver pocket change and five-dollar bills.

The winners of the contest receive a free pizza party. Evart Clinic and Evart Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine won the contest with 18,093 points, Infusion Therapy and Orthopedic Services came in second with 9,585 points and the Finance Department came in third with 7,085 points. Total money raised by the employees of Spectrum Health Reed City and Evart sites was $1,496.36.
