Phase II of Spectrum Health Lakeland Pavilion Project Underway

Changes to facility entrance, wayfinding

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. Jan. 19, 2021 – Phase II of the Pavilion project at Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center is now underway. The project features 80,000 square feet of renovated space including a new main street with multiple visitor amenities, a renovated emergency department entrance and ambulance bays, a renovated prep/recovery area, and a new short stay unit.

Beginning January 25, all patients and visitors should park in the parking garage and enter the hospital via the first floor. A new, temporary structure, located off the existing entrance corridor, will provide access to the rest of the facility. At the end of the temporary entrance, patients and visitors will undergo a health screening and be asked to put on a mask. From there, they will be directed to their desired location within the hospital using colored wayfinding signage.

If it is an emergency, patients should call 9-1-1 for life-threatening injuries and illnesses or proceed directly to the emergency department located off Morton Avenue and park in one of the designated lots or use the circle drive for drop off and pick up.

“We  look forward to the many ways this project will help positively transform the health care experience by offering the comforts of home, providing delightful customer service encounters, and instilling confidence in quality of care,” said Loren B. Hamel, MD, president, Spectrum Health Lakeland. “Timely and accessible patient care is always our number one priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding and ask that you plan for additional time when visiting the Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center campus.”
