Spectrum Health Celebrates New Student Photo Exhibit

Spectrum Health will host a reception celebrating a new art exhibit at Butterworth Hospital that spotlights photography by students from the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology (WMCAT).

The reception is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Butterworth Hospital. Matt Van Vranken, executive vice president, Spectrum Health and president, Spectrum Health Hospital Group, and Dennis Grantz, manager, creative and instructional development, West Michigan Center for Arts & Technology, will provide the welcome and remarks.

The exhibit showcases the photography of 15 WMCAT high school students from the Grand Rapids Public Schools: Gabriel Benitez, Kristi Carter, Arick Davis, Michael Escobar, Maribel Garcia, Shanice Hamilton, Emily Koon, Tushona Matthews, Daishonne Mitz-Klyce, Rebecca Ojeda, Mayline Perez, Trevor Sekeet, Mack Smith, Felicia Taylor and Janae Young.

The West Michigan Center for Arts & Technology is a non-profit organization that provides meaningful opportunities for urban youth and under-employed adults to engage with the arts and technology at no cost to them. Through its after-school and summer arts programs, WMCAT offers hands-on art classes with a strong technology component to high school students attending Grand Rapids Public Schools.
