GREENVILLE, Mich., July 8, 2019 – Registration is open for the 2019 Spectrum Health Danish Dash and organizers are expecting another great turnout for a competitive 5k race and loads of family fun.

In addition to the USA Track and Field certified 5k road race, the event features a 1-mile walk, a half mile kids run and a ‘Dress Like a Dane’ costume contest.

“We had 435 participants last year including more than 300 runners, which is awesome,” said race director Danielle Wells. “The combination of a serious run and great family fun made it successful last year, and early registration has been strong.”

Part of the celebrated Danish Festival weekend, the event starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 with the 5k race taking runners through Tower Park, past Manoka Lake and around Baldwin Lake. The course begins and ends at Baldwin Heights Elementary School.

The mile walk starts at 8:10 a.m. and the kids run is at 9:30 a.m.

Registration is open at runsignup.com/spectrumhealthdanishdash. Participants who register by July 31 will receive early-bird pricing and will be guaranteed a performance t-shirt. Registration will continue online and in person up through race day at a higher price with shirts available while supplies last.

The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive medals. Bluetooth speakers will be awarded to the fastest overall male and female finishers, as well as to the fastest master’s male, master’s female and ‘Dress Like a Dane’ costume contest winner.

There is no charge for the kids run, which is open to children going into fifth grade or younger.

The 5k race is the second leg of the IM Running Race Series event. The first event was the Yellow Jacket Challenge, which took place on April 14, and the finale is the Belding Labor Day 5k August 31. IM Running Race Series runners save on registration and those who complete all three races receive a special medal.

Danish Dash participants will also enjoy a photo booth, a DJ and free produce will be available from the YMCA and Spectrum Health Veggie Van while supplies last.
