Ludington Hospital

Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital – Fall Prevention Booth

September 19, 2017

Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital will staff a booth in its main south-entrance lobby this Friday, September 22, 2017 between noon and 3 p.m. to inform the public about the risk of falls as part of Fall Prevention Awareness Day, sponsored by the National Council on Aging and Spectrum Health.

Non-slip socks will be given free of charge, snacks will be served, and a free blood pressure screening will be available, along with information and discussion about how to prevent falls in the home.

Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries for people 65 years and older. Every 11 seconds, an older adult is seen in an emergency department for a fall-related injury. If you are an older adult, you have the power to reduce your risk of falling. If you have an aging parent or grandparent, help them stay healthy and independent by helping to reduce their risk. Most falls can be prevented. Stop by our booth and let us talk to you about how to stay safe.

  • Free fall-risk evaluations
  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Fall prevention tips from experts
  • Information on balance classes
  • Free non-slip socks, while supplies last
