Spectrum Health Medical Group Establishes Colorectal Surgery Division

With the addition of two new surgeons, Spectrum Health Medical Group has taken the first step in establishing a colorectal surgery division.

Anthony Senagore, MD, and Ryan Figg, MD, have joined the Spectrum Health Medical Group effective December 1.

Dr. Senagore is an internationally recognized leader in laparoscopic bowel surgery, colorectal cancer and enhanced postoperative recovery. His expertise also includes the socioeconomics of medical care delivery. Dr. Figg specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, and minimally invasive surgery.

“These surgeons, both of whom have practiced at the Cleveland Clinic, bring excellent qualifications and experience to our team, enabling us to expand our surgical offerings,” said James M. Tucci, MD, MMM, president, Spectrum Health Medical Group. “We are very pleased they have joined us to help build our colorectal surgery division.”

Dr. Senagore received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the Butterworth Hospital/Michigan State University program in Grand Rapids, as well as a research fellowship, and colon and rectal surgery residency at Ferguson Hospital.

Dr. Figg received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency through the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center/Michigan State University. He also completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

The surgeons will be located at 3230 Eagle Park Drive NE, Suite 210 in Grand Rapids.

The Spectrum Health Medical Group employs more than 90 physicians and mid-level providers, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
