Spectrum Health Medical Group Names Children’s Hospital Physician Chief

 

Timothy C. Griffin, MD, has been named Chief, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Physicians, of the Spectrum Health Medical Group. Griffin will assume his new role in September.

Dr. Griffin, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, earned his bachelor’s degree at Hope College in Holland, MI and his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. During his residency in pediatrics at Northwestern University in Chicago, he served as chief resident at Children’s Memorial Hospital. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Children’s Medical Center, Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Griffin comes to Spectrum Health from the Memorial Medical Group in South Bend, IN. His previous experience includes serving as the director of the pediatric hematology/oncology department at Cook Children’s Medical Center, Fort Worth, TX, and chairman of the board of the Cook Children’s Physician Network. Dr. Griffin has served as a member of the board of trustees for the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and on the Memorial Health System Foundation during his career in Indiana.

He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-Board of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Griffin is a member of the American College of Physician Executives, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the International Society of Pediatric Oncology and the Children’s Oncology Group.

Dr. Griffin’s work in the area of children’s oncology, particularly non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, has been featured in numerous professional journals and publications.

The Spectrum Health Medical Group currently employs more than 500 physicians and mid-level providers, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
