Spectrum Health Medical Group Physician Named to National Community Health Board
Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP) has appointed Daniel L. Maison, MD, FAAHPM, palliative care, Spectrum Health Medical Group, to its board of directors.
Five new appointees were selected at CHAP’s November 2010 board meeting. The organization’s board of directors comprises volunteer industry leaders representing community-based health care providers, consumers, and the payor community. It also oversees CHAP, Inc. policy.
Dr. Maison received his undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency in internal medicine at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the American College of Physicians.

CHAP is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body for community-based health care organizations. Created in 1965, CHAP was the first to recognize the need and value for accreditation in community-based care. CHAP is the oldest national, community-based accrediting body with more than 5,000 agencies currently accredited nationwide. Through “deeming authority” granted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), CHAP has the regulatory authority to survey agencies providing home health, hospice and home medical equipment services to determine if they meet the Medicare Conditions of Participation and CMS Quality Standards.
