Spectrum Health Recognized as One of Michigan’s Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies’

Spectrum Health Hospital Group was recently recognized as one of the Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies™ in Michigan for 2014 by Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA). MBPA is a statewide organization, comprised of more than 150,000 businesses, offering educational workshops, conferences, and recognition awards.   The Best and Brightest Sustainable Award honors companies from all industries that are focused on being more sustainable, improving the lives of their employees and are committed to the local and global environments. 52 companies across Michigan received the award this year, including three other hospitals. 

Winning companies were evaluated and scored by an independent research firm in the following categories: Education, Communication, Strategic Planning & Operational Implementation, Innovation & Problem Solving, Building & Grounds, Community Leadership, Workforce and Financial Performance.

Spectrum Health has been recognized in the past for its commitment to sustainability. Its comprehensive program focuses on improving human health, protecting the environment and practicing fiscal responsibility. Goals include reducing energy use, limiting waste and adopting green purchasing practices.
