Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Award Two Health Sciences Scholarships

Recognizing the rising costs of a college education, Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital has increased their annual scholarship award from $500 to $1000 per student.  Two well deserving winners, Abigail Pontz and Kaela Johnson, were chosen from a field of sixteen applicants who all exhibited an interest in pursuing a career in the health sciences.  Scholarship applicants must show a clear directive as to their interest in the health sciences, proven academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher and provide a comprehensive overview of their high school careers including academics, varied extra-curricular activities, community involvement and demonstrated work habits. 

Abigail Pontz will be graduating from Reed City High School with a GPA of 3.776 and has been accepted at Central Michigan University.  Abigail will focus on pre-medical studies.  Her goal is to obtain an undergraduate degree in biomedical science.  Abigail is the daughter of Angie and Kevin Pontz of Hersey.

Kaela Johnson will be graduating from Evart High School with a GPA of 4.0 and has been accepted at Cedarville University to study nursing.  She is the daughter of Dan and Gay Johnson of Evart.
