Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Recognizes Volunteer of the Year
Among the dedicated individuals who actively volunteer at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital, every year the hospital honors one who distinguishes himself/herself by exemplifying the organization’s values of excellence, integrity, compassion, teamwork and respect. Carol Ladd can be seen making beds, stocking linens and spending one-on-one time with patients and families in the emergency department. Known as “The Cookie Lady”, she bakes cookies in the family lounge kitchen and delivers fresh baked goods to patients, families and staff. And if that isn’t enough, you can also see Carol working in the American Cancer Society Resource Center located inside Crossroads Radiation Therapy Center talking to cancer patients and their families – providing emotional support and providing valuable information and resources to families that have been recently diagnosed with cancer. As a breast cancer survivor herself, Carol uses her experience to reach out to people and provide support.
Nominated by her peers and staff members, many indicate that Carol’s service has had a direct impact on patient and employee satisfaction. Emergency department supervisor, Jeremy Carlson says “Carol goes out of her way to provide exceptional service to our patients and works well with staff. You can always count on Carol to bring a smile and fresh baked cookies to brighten your day.”
